STVF and SIFF Online Application!
STVF\'s Magnolia Award for animation will be adjusted to recognize “Best Animation” and “Best Animation Script”. SIFF\'s Golden Goblet Award will also include a “Best Animation” section. The STVF Magnolia Award will continue to have a documentary section while the SIFF Golden Goblet Award will add “Best Documentary”.
The online application period for the festivals is now in full swing. The deadline for animations is March 30, 2015 (for STVF) and April 15, 2015 (for SIFF). The deadline for documentaries is March 31, 2015 (for STVF) and April 15, 2015 (for SIFF). The 21st Shanghai TV Festival will be held during June 8-12, 2015; the 18th Shanghai International Film Festival will be held during June 13-21.
The Chinese animation industry has developed significantly in recent years and box office hit animation films are constantly emerging. Accordingly, SIFF and STVF have established different categories for animations to promote the quality of Chinese and overseas animation works and to build a platform for international animation competition and promotion,. The animation award section of STVF\'s Magnolia Award will be adjusted to include “Best Animation” and “Best Animation Script”. The main competition section of SIFF, the Golden Goblet Award, will also have a “Best Animation” award. The film and TV festival animation sections are now open for application on their respective official websites.
The 21st Shanghai TV Festival and 18th Shanghai International Film Festival will continue in 2015 to hold onto their principles of professionalism, fairness and internationalism. This includes further perfecting their awards systems and processes. Changes have been made accordingly in the animation section. STVF\'s Magnolia Award section will be adjusted to include “Best Animation” and “Best Animation Script”. Nominations for the TV section should be animation series, and single episode, or one-time animation programs. They must have been screened in the period from March 11, 2014 to March 31, 2015. Animation works for SIFF should be more than 70 minutes in length. The Best Animation Golden Goblet award will be decided by Chinese and overseas experts and professionals in the field. This will be the first SIFF award for animation films since the festival was established in 1993.
The exhibition of excellent animation films during the Magnolia Award is an important part of STVF\'s Program Showcase. The TV festival committee will make efforts to show excellent overseas animation works so audiences get a chance to see films not widely available.

Applications for Documentaries
The 2015 Shanghai International Film Festival has introduced a documentary award section for the first time to recognize increasing interest in the genre from home and abroad. Documentary films which are more than 70 minutes in length may be submitted for judging. The Documentary section of the STVF Magnolia Award will continue, and is now open to sign-up for entry. Online applications are possible and documentary makers and directors are most welcomed to enter for competition or display.
In 2015, the Magnolia Award of STVF and the Golden Goblet Award of SIFF will change their documentary sections to attract wider categories of entries. Shanghai International Film Festival has introduced a documentary award section for the first time to increase the professionalism, artistry and authority of the Golden Goblet Award. Documentary films which are more than 70 minutes in length may be submitted. The STVF documentary section is open to excellent documentaries which are specifically made for TV. There will be a Best Documentary Series and Best Documentary Award.
"Finding Vivian Maier" which won the Magnolia Award\'s Jury Prix last year, was nominated for the Best Documentary Academy Award, an endorsement of the good standing of STVF. SIFF and STVF will focus on the documentary genre in 2015 and provide more opportunities for excellent works to be recognized.
