Young TV Hosts to be Honored in 17th Festival Opener
A grand ceremony to honor 30 or so talented young Chinese TV hosts of entertainment shows will raise the curtain on June 6 on the 17th Shanghai Television Festival.
Different from last year\'s gala which paid tribute to 85 domestic TV anchors for their achievements over the past 30 years, this year\'s event aims to recognize new and emerging TV hosting talent in the entertainment genre.
The winners have been selected from about 100 candidates from all over the country.
Among them are popular CCTV hosts Sa Beining and Gao Bo, Dragon TV\'s Wang Guan and Zhu Zhen , and Hunan Satellite TV\'s Eddy Au and Hai Tao.
Shanghai TV host Cao Kefan(Kevin Cao), known for his celebrity interview program "Kevin Hour," former CCTV host Zhao Zhongxiang, veteran "Happy Dictionary" TV hostess Wang Xiaoya, and famous TV personality Yue-sai Kan will present awards.
According to opening gala director Tang Ping, anchors usually play an important and active role in TV media.
"A lot of young TV entertainment hosts today display diversified styles of language and individuality," Tang said.
"They are integral to these programs. People are also impressed by their increasing influence on the audience," he added.
The gala will feature dynamic dance performances, light-hearted talk show items, comic sketches and improvised performances to showcase the versatility of Chinese TV anchors.
