SMG Pictures Strikes Deal With Fuji TV for Japanese Series Remakes

 

  The Shanghai-based SMG Pictures announced yesterday at the 2016 Shanghai International Film and TV Festival it will collaborate with Fuji Television Network to co-produce five Chinese remakes of successful Japanese series in the next three years.

  The first production, a remake of the popular Japanese romantic comedy series,"Dating: What’s It Like To Be In Love?", will start shooting in October. Veterans from Fuji Television Network will offer technical support. The series will also become the first installment of a "Pure Love Trilogy" and be followed by Chinese remakes of "Operation Love" and "The Best Divorce."

  Shanghai Oriental Pearl Media and Huayi Brothers Media also said yesterday they will increase their collaborations in copyright, online film production, talent fostering and branding.

  A batch of original online films and series will be produced by the two companies this year to support rising young film makers and actors in China.

  South Korean heartthrob Song Seung-heon also attended the announcements to promote the upcoming entertainment show "Yulejia." The live broadcast program will offer fans rare opportunities to interact with their idols through mobile apps.
