Tian Jin,

Chairman of the STVF Organizing Committee

Another lively June has arrived. It is a great pleasure for TV program makers from home and abroad to gather here for the Shanghai TV Festival with a surge in our common creative spirits. Here, on behalf of the General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the Shanghai TV Festival Organizing Committee, I would like to extend my sincerest welcome to guests and friends coming from around the world.

Compared with other sorts of media, TV possesses unique strength in diffusion, influence and accessibility. The Shanghai TV Festival, the first TV Festival set up in China, has witnessed the efforts and struggles made by several generations of TV program makers, and it has accumulated overseas influence for the cultural brand “Chinese creativity and Chinese production”. Accompanied with the upgrading and development of Chinese cultural undertakings and the cultural industry, the Shanghai TV Festival constantly accomplishes its missions and functions, driving more and more Chinese works and new forces on to the international stage by virtue of its increasing overseas broadcasting power.

The powerful combination of culture and technology has allowed the TV industry to achieve strides in development over and over. Nowadays, with new technologies developing continuously, people can turn on their televisions or handheld electronic devices and find access to various kinds of TV programs anytime and anywhere. In this new age where media technology is developing rapidly all over the world, the Shanghai TV Festival has always insisted on leading the new trends, embracing the latest media and technologies, making each year’s festival a great and exciting event that has a splendid appearance.

Today, this cultural broadcasting platform is becoming more mature. By means of experience in continuous optimization and more practical main content settings, the Shanghai TV Festival will implement more comprehensive functions and assist the industry in even more aspects.

Finally, I sincerely wish the Shanghai TV Festival a great success!
