Word by STVF\'s Chairman

On the occasion of the 15th Shanghai TV festival, I would like, on behalf of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, to extend my warm welcome to all the friends and distinguished guests from all over the world.

In 2008, the Chinese people was hit by an unexpected natrual catastrophe——the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake, but at the same time, they hosted an unprecedentedly grand international event in August——the Beijing Olympics. On both occasions, our TV workers were right on the front, reporting the events to China and the rest of the world in the earlies time possible and showing to the world how Chinese had gone through the disaster and enjoyed the joy of a successful Olympics. Their efforts have won the respects from the rest of the world.

2009 is the 60th anniversary of the People\'s Republic of China and the 15the TV  Festival is held 13 months after the Wenchuan earthquake. Against this background, we will continue to carry forward the responsibility and strength of the media, in an effort to boost the morale of and confidence of the industries fighting the financial crisis.

Against such a special backdrop, we will make efforts to discuss how the increasingly globalized TV industry can make breakthroughs in this unprecedented crisis and will focus on the Chinese TV industry that is undergoing industral changes.

Wish the 15th Shanghai TV Festival a complete success!
