The 19th Shanghai TV Festival (STVF) is now calling for entries and applications. The official online application system for Magnolia Award has been available; meanwhile, online portal is also available for the application of STVF International Film and TV Market as well as its New Media and Broadcasting Equipment Market.
For the purpose of awarding the best and supporting the innovative, STVF’s Magnolia Award has cooperated with major international TV festivals and strengthened communications with different cultures and also promoted Chinese TV abroad. In recent years, besides a cooperative mechanism with Tokyo TV Festival and Seoul TV Festival, STVF has launched “Special Award for Foreign TV Series” in the Magnolia Program and successfully promoted “Soldiers Sortie”, “Beautiful Daughter-in-law” and “Three Kingdoms” which won awards abroad. In 2012, at the invitation from STVF to compete for the Magnolia Award, the International Emmy Awards winner “Downton Abbey” won the “Foreign TV Gold Award” of Magnolia program, and its producer also attended the awards ceremony. Also in 2012, more than 300 domestic and foreign exhibitors participated in the International Film and TV Market as well as its New Media and Broadcasting Equipment Market, among which 40% were foreign exhibitors, and over 20,000 people were attracted to the exhibition. Respectively, industry giants like CCTV, SMG, Warner Bros, Disney, KBS, NHK, ITV and others all appeared in the program market, while many well-known equipment suppliers including Panasonic, Sony, China Digital Video and Dayang Technology Development were attracted to the equipment market.
