More Professional, More Audience friendly
The 17th Shanghai TV Festival will run from June 6th to 10th. In this post-Expo period, STVF will speed and enhanced its service function under the banner of the "Three Network Convergence" and development of China’s TV industry.
The Magnolia Award will focus on TV series\' marketing through cooperation with mainstream foreign TV festivals, recommending programs and setting standards. Besides, the international film and TV market will go on exploring the Chinese model, improving the professional service and attracting new media and buyers. All of this is for gathering resources and experience for establishing the program and content copyright market. Meanwhile, the Animation Pitch & Catch is enlarged to the Asian Animation Pitch & Catch. This year’s activities include the opening and closing ceremonies, competition, program and equipment market, forums and MIDA activities, and the Student TV Festival. Opening ceremony to Honor Excellent New Hosts The STVF will co-host the Chinese Host Stars with the Chinese TV Artists Association aiming to honor hosts with high influence and special abilities. Over a hundred hosts will be in the running for China’s Top Ten New Hosts. Finally, thirty hosts will gather in Shanghai to attend the award. The Magnolia Award: Good TV Series Competing The Magnolia is the first TV award activity in China focusing on catching industry hot movies, reflecting industry trends, and promote the international development of Chinese TV。 This year\'s STVF will choose thirteen TV films, twelve series, and fifteen animated films to compete; in addition, this year will see a Foreign TV Series Special Award. Actress Jiang Wenli will chair the jury panel of TV film and series awards with Liu Liu, Wang Jun, Hou Yong, Ronin Qu, and renowned German producer Norrbotte Saul. Famous documentary producer Shi Jian and French animation director Frederic Dybowski will chair the documentary and animation section.
International Film Market: New Media, New Power
The International Film Market will be at the Shanghai Expo Centre from June 7 to 9 with over 200 companies and issuers. Not only traditional TV dramas but also video websites Tudou,Youku, Leshi, and Tencent. Domestic media, such as CCTV and SMG and film companies such as Hairun, Huace, Changcheng, Yinrun will also join in. Companies from Italy, the UK, Germany, Spain, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, and the Philippines make up forty percent; besides, Warner TV, Disney, ITV, NHK will be there as in previous years.
The market will continue supporting Chinese animation.
The Asian Animation Pitch & Catch Committee (Animation Pitch & Catch) is the only platform for animation investment in Asia, consisting of program selecting, professional forums and program negotiations. In 2010, six outstanding programs were shown in the Cannes Youth Program Market and drew attention of 234 international buyers.
New International Media and the Film Equipment Market: The future of Cloud Technology
As a main activity of the STVF, the New Media and the Film Equipment Market will run at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from June 7 to 9. The subject is Cloud Technology and the Three Network Convergence. Exhibitors include SONY, Panasonic, STR, SOBEY, and China Digital Video.
Magnolia International TV Forum: the future pattern of TV
Magnolia International TV Forum will be held from 7th June to 9th at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. The forum is made up of summits and professional discussions. Adhering to the concept of global issues and industry experience, it will pay attention to the hot points in the industry. Bosses from SMG, Youku, Fantastic Art, China Telecom, Lenovo, Samsung, Sharp, and other well-known media will focus on new media, animation and operational styles of TV programs.
Special Activities for Citizens
Special activities during the TV Festival will open to audiences from Jun 1, and good films, TV series, documentaries and animations from all over the world will be shown.
The Audience Choice Online, which is two years old, will be held with Tencent this year. Unlike previous years, the candidates are all from entries for the Golden Goblet Award. The committee has received over ten million votes May 13.
In addition, the MIDA (Magnolia International Documentary Award) was a great success last year and this year 18 documentaries will be aired on TV and 15 exhibited in cinemas. After the award ceremony, Pina, a 3D film by Wim Wenders saluting Pina Bausch, the modern dance pioneer, will be shown as the closing movie.
