The 23RD Shanghai TV Festival is calling for entry!

 

Applications for the 23rd Shanghai TV Festival’s Magnolia Awards of 2017 has launched on December 1. The online portal (www.stvf.com) is now open for applications in four sections - TV Drama, Documentaries, Animations and Variety Shows.
Founded in 1986, Shanghai TV Festival (STVF) consists of various comprehensive international programs including Magnolia Awards for International TV Programs, The Magnolia showcase, International Film & TV Market-TV Market, International New Media and Broadcasting Equipment Market, STVFORUM and Magnolia Awards Ceremony. Adhering to the idea of running a forward-looking and international festival, STVF fully leverages its platform resources advantages, actively promotes international cooperation, emphasizes on enhancing professionalism and interactivity, and keeps innovating while respecting inheritance. After 30 years of brand building, STVF has become one of the most important communication and cooperation platforms for the international TV community in Asia.
During the 22nd Shanghai TV Festival in 2016, 10 Chinese local TV dramas, 7 overseas TV dramas, 10 documentaries, 10 animations and 20 variety shows were shortlisted to compete for various awards.

Legend of Miyue won the Best Chinese TV Drama award of the Magnolia Awards, and Sun Li and Liu Tao were named the Best Actress and the Best Supporting Actress respectively for their fantastic performance in the drama. Kong Sheng and Li Xue who direct Nirvana in Fire won the Best Director award, and Hu Ge, who plays the hero of the drama Mei Changsu, won the Best Actor award; scriptwriter of Young Marshal Jiang Qitao won the Best Scriptwriter award; and Zhao Lixin, an actor in In the Silence won the Best Supporting Actor award. Overseas TV dramas Game of Thrones and No Second Chance won the Best Overseas TV Drama (long and short respectively).

Japanese documentary Tora’s Family – 22 Years Story won the Best Documentary award, and Shark, a documentary from the UK, won the Best Documentary Series award. Also from the UK, animation Stick Man won the Best Animation award, and Japanese animation One Punch Man won the Best Animation Script award. The Brain won the Best Variety Show (Seasonal) award, and The Chinese Classical Poems Quiz Show won the Best Variety Program award.

Japanese Animation One Punch Man won Best Animation Script of the Magnolia Awards

 

During the 22nd Shanghai TV Festival, The Magnolia Showcase introduced audiences to many wonderful programs, including overseas TV dramas Game of Thrones and Wolf Hall, overseas documentaries Tora’s Family – 22 Years Story and After the Mist, and overseas animations Concrete Revolutio, Oddbods and Stick Man.
The 23rd Shanghai TV Festival will be held during June 12-16, 2017, and the application deadline for all the programs is March 31, 2017.
