STVF International TV Showcase Starts Today

 

The 27th Shanghai TV Festival (STVF) will kick off tomorrow (on June 6), and the annual International TV Showcase will also be launched tonight (on June 5) on the four channels of SMG. The STVF, as a grand event for the industry, is also a feast for citizens to enjoy film and television works across the world. This year, 31 outstanding overseas dramas, documentaries and animations from various countries and regions will be broadcasted on Shanghai East Movie Channel, DOCUTV, ICS and Toonmax TV, respectively. These works will provide audiences with a broad international vision and the richness of Chinese and foreign TV culture.

Shanghai East Movie Channel

“Leonardo” zooms in on the stories of the talented artist

 

From June 8 to June 11, the Shanghai East Movie Channel will broadcast the overseas drama "LEONARDO". This work explores the life of one of the most talented minds in history, Leonardo da Vinci, and uncovers the stories behind the legendary artist’s experience, which even involves an uncanny murder. There are eight episodes altogether, and two episodes are broadcast every day at 23:25.

DOCUTV

 Chinese and foreign masterpieces tell stories faithfully

 

From June 5 to June 12, the DOCUTV will show 7 excellent Chinese and foreign documentaries, from which the audience can get a glimpse of histories, civilizations, and cultures of different places.

 

The documentary "TADAO ANDO: MESSAGE TO THE NEXT GENERATION" explores the close bond between architectural art and the development of the times by revisiting the creation career of the famous architect Tadao Ando; “RARE: CREATURES OF THE PHOTO ARK - SEASON 2" awakens people's enthusiasm for saving endangered species around the world through the lens of the full-time photographer of National Geographic Joel Sartore.

"LES ANNÉES EN FRANCE" presents the legends about individuals and times, reality and future, dreams and struggles wrote by over 1,800 Chinese students crossing the oceans to study in France from China 100 years ago in that era of great change; “LITTLE GIANTS” focuses on Chinese "post-00s" teenagers. These talented teenagers are a profile of China today and the backbone of China in the future.

 

In addition, “MASTER CLASS”, “NO REGRET”, “LOST IN MEMORIES” and other works will tell a batch of true stories to the audience from the perspectives across history, recording the age, or revealing the reality, etc.,

 

ICS

Overseas hot dramas show diverse lives

 

From June 6 to June 20, ICS will screen 7 overseas dramas from different countries and regions at 22:00 every night. "ALTES LAND" and “CYACTBE B KOHBEPTE” both develop around the daily life of the family, portraying the plain happiness vividly like a family album; "LOUIS VAN BEETHOVEN" artistically restores the legendary musician Beethoven’s ups and downs in life, and his soul-stirring tenacious will of living; "OKTOBERFEST BEER & BLOOD" revolves around the Oktoberfest in 1900, and stages a good show of human nature; "KU'DAMM 63" conveys the spirit of independent women fighting against the secularity; "SOMETHING TO HIDE" tells the story of a mayor who fell to the bottom of his life after being accused of rape, and finally found out the truth after 15 years of investigation; “LUOZIE BOGOWIE” depicts the scenes of two Polish counterintelligence commanders fighting the Nazis during World War II.

Toonmax TV

Gathers the new trend of global animation

 

From June 7 to June 16 at 23:00 every day, the Toonmax TV will show 16 excellent animation works at home and abroad, including the "TROLLS" series well-known to domestic audiences, and "MAMAN PLEUT DES CORDES" and "ABRACA" from France, "THE EPIC ADVENTURES OF MORPH" from the United Kingdom, “LITTLE TIARAS” and "MASHA AND THE BEAR" from Russia, and other animation masterpieces from around the world. These works will also reflect today's global animation trend.

 

In terms of original Chinese animations, there will be the traditional hot-blooded drama series such as "KUIBA", the well-known classics such as "SHUKE BEITA 2", as well as the “KINGDOM OF XUANWU” of the “SCISSOR SEVEN” series, which has won the Magnolia Award for best animation screenplay. The collective showcasing of these outstanding Chinese animation works will demonstrate the achievements of the creators in the past year.
