STVFORUM | To Tell the Stories of China and Spread the Voice of China

 

This afternoon, Opening Session: Chinese Television Industry Summit of the 27th STVFORUM—Set Sail on a New Journey in the New Era with the Hundred-year Heritage was held at Shanghai Exhibition Center. Industry insiders, focusing on the major creation theme of the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, shared their practices experience, and discussed in depth the mission of China's television career and industry in the new era. Member of the Editorial Board and General Manager of the General Manager Office of China Media Group Peng Jianming; Director and President of SMG Song Jiongming; Founder and President of Huace Group Zhao Yifang; Chairman of Linmon Pictures Su Xiao made speeches one after another.

 

The STVFORUM is an integral part of Shanghai TV Festival (STVF). Over the years, it has been adhering to professional standards, playing professional values, and leading professional development, rising to be an important platform for dialogue and exchanges in the TV industry. Before the start of the forum, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism and Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Radio and Television Luo Yi delivered a speech on behalf of the STVF Organizing Committee. He said that this year's STVFORUM will, with the core theme of celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, discuss how to enhance the creation of TV works, better show the Chinese spirit, Chinese value, and Chinese power, and bring under spotlight major theme creation, industrial integration and transformation, and innovative international communication and other important topics. He hoped that the guests at the summit could give full play to their strengths, express their own opinions, and offer suggestions for the development of China's television industry at the STVFORUM.

 

 

Promote deep integration and innovate era-based expression

 

Since the beginning of this year, China Media Group has made all efforts to organize publicity reports and content creation to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, vividly tell the red story, and record the great achievements and show the glory for the 100-year anniversary. Peng Jianming, Member of the Editorial Board and General Manager of the General Manager Office of China Media Group, said that among these major-theme works, in addition to the “big-budget dramas and works” that audiences are already familiar with, a number of media-fusion works with innovative audiovisual scenes, the application of new technologies, synergy between large screens and small screens, and rich interactive planning also showed strong communication strength and influence. They revealed to the audience in a more innovative form the glorious way of the Communist Party of China leading the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the past century.

 

Peng Jianming also introduced the latest practices of China Media Group in accelerating profound media fusion. He said that the advantages and the powerful communication strength of media fusion distinguish China Media Group from any other media, and that in the future, it would speed up the construction of new media platforms, and strive to build an “all-media ecosystem”, to have the voice of the Communist Party of China reach “every screen among the people”.

 

 

Take a broad and long-term view and seek creation breakthroughs

 

Under the all-media communication pattern, how to effectively publicize the major theme of celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China? As the mainstream media in Shanghai, the birthplace of the Communist Party of China, how can we demonstrate our advantages and characteristics in creation to expand influence and make breakthroughs? To answer these questions, Song Jiongming, Director and President of SMG, said that in the creation of major themes, to take a broad and long-term view and to explore in depth the thoughts are the priorities. “Specifically, as for the themed publicity of celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the content should stand out from other thematic reports in historical dimension and ideological depth, with a more realistic and global perspective in a more stereo and rich form.”

Faced with the topic of “Set Sail on a New Journey in the New Era with the Hundred-year Heritage”, Zhao Yifang gave a speech on the two themes of “Hua Ce pays tribute to the achievements themed on the centenary of the Communist Party of China, and tells Chinese stories and promotes cultural content of Chinese film and television works to go global”. As a private film and television company founded in 1992, the transformation and growth of Huace Group has also witnessed the development of China's cultural film and television industry in leaps. At the beginning of her speech, Zhao Yifang, Founder and President of Huace Group, could not hide her emotions: “Every step of our growth is inseparable from the Communist Party of China and the government, and the support of Party committees at all levels, and we will firmly follow the leadership of the Communist Party of China. We will formulate the creation direction of our group based on the needs of the country and the people. Zhao Yifang mentioned that Huace Group has been exploring and innovating the mainstream and realism creation over years, and pursuing international and professional expression, and has especially accumulated a wealth of experience in telling Chinese stories, spreading Chinese voices, and promoting the cultural content of Chinese film and television to go global. She revealed that Huace is taking the opportunity of the rise of global new media to establish a "single-piece network" for global social communication. “Next, we will focus on the global production of Chinese stories, let audiences in more countries to know Chinese original stories, and help the 'Chinese model' to go global.”

 

 

Discover the greatness in the ordinary with a universal love

 

The TV dramas of“Little”series, represented by “A Love for Separation”, “A Little Reunion”and “A Little Dilemma”, have become the golden signature of Limon Pictures. At the forum, Su Xiao, Chairman of Limon Pictures, shared their creative ideas through what we perceive as small. Su Xiao believes that warmth is the home of the soul. In the current social environment, the warmth and hope conveyed by films and television dramas are more important than coldness.”“Works should be created to soothe the hearts of the people. The creators need to guide the values while considering the general emotions of the society, to truly realize the warm and realistic expression.” He said that no matter the creation theme is small or large, the creator must have universal love, love this land that nurtures himself, love those who are unremittingly striving, feel the deep emotions, and explore the greatness in the ordinary. Su Xiao also revealed that the original crew of“A Little Reunion” will gather to shoot a sequel every four years to show the changes in Chinese society in a span of 20 years.
