Magnolia Juror Maurice Polter Intros German Thriller Series to Shanghai Audience

The first two episodes of 2025 German TV series One Hundred and Thirteen were showcased at Shanghai Art Museum on June 24 as part of the free screening program of the 31st Shanghai TV Festival.

The central story focuses on six characters involved in a severe traffic accident, with the past traumas of these protagonists gradually revealed as the bigger truth unfolds.

A special guest at the event was series producer Moritz Polter who is also a member of the foreign TV drama jury at this year's STVF. 

In a celebrated career, Polter was also executive producer of Das Boot (2018), the winner of the Best Foreign TV Film/Miniseries of the 25th Magnolia Awards in 2019.

Polter said that because "television and film can bring cultures much closer together, and they should," he wants to see more TV dramas produced and screened in Europe.

He is excited about visiting Shanghai for the first time, a city he said is “younger and more vibrant than I expected.”

"One of the most wonderful things of being in Shanghai is to actually taste real food rather than the Chinese food we get in Europe." 

Screenings of One Hundred and Thirteen are part of the Shanghai TV Festival’s Magnolia Showcase. They will last until June 26 and are open to the public.
