Call for Entries for the 30th STVF’s Magnolia Awards: Only 20 Days Left for Submissions in Two Categories
The call for entries for the 30th Shanghai TV Festival’s Magnolia Awards officially launched on December 9, 2024, comprising four categories: TV Drama (both China and foreign TV drama), Documentary, Animation, and Variety. We have witnessed a surge of outstanding audiovisual works submitted by both domestic and international creators.
The submission period for Foreign TV drama, Documentary, and Animation concluded on February 28, 2025. However, submissions for the two remaining categories - China TV Drama and Variety - are still ongoing, with a deadline of March 31, 2025. We encourage interested producers to prompt their registration on the official STVF website (www.stvf.com) for online submissions.
As one of the earliest and most internationally influential TV awards in China, the Magnolia Awards adhere to principles of fairness and impartiality in judging. The awards, continuously innovating while remaining true to their core values, have served as a “barometer” in the industry that resonates with the times. Over the years, the Magnolia Awards have balanced thought-provoking content, artistic expression, and entertainment value. By recognizing outstanding works and nurturing new talent, the awards have introduced a collection of high-quality original content that is profound in thought, exceptional in artistry, and meticulously produced, showcasing to the world the practical achievements of contemporary audiovisual creation in telling China’s modernization story and building a narrative framework for China’s cultural identity. Moreover, they have unveiled the latest in excellent audiovisual cultures from around the world to domestic audiences.
At the 29th STVF, hosted in 2024, 65 works were shortlisted for the Magnolia Awards after several rounds of competition. During the Magnolia Awards Ceremony, over 200 representatives from shortlisted crews, celebrity guests, directors, scriptwriters, and numerous TV professionals gathered to celebrate this global exchange of television arts. The awards ceremony was broadcast online, reaching audiences in 64 cities across China, attracting approximately 35 million viewers.
This June, let us meet again to witness the glorious moments of the 30th STVF’s Magnolia Awards. We look forward to seeing more exceptional works dazzle on the Magnolia Awards stage and hope that more Chinese stories will brilliantly intersect with global narratives in Shanghai.
