STVF Debuts at ATF, Inviting the Film and TV Industry to the “Magnolia Awards”

From December 3 to 6, the 25th Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) took place in Singapore, during which Shanghai Television Festival (STVF) made an appearance in the “China Pavilion”, extending an invitation for the “Magnolia Awards”, scheduled for the 30th STVF to be held in June next year.

Founded in 1999, ATF is a key entertainment content market in Asia, attracting numerous production companies, distribution companies, buyers, and investors from around the world each year to explore the latest business opportunities and market trends. This year marks the 25th anniversary of ATF, which featured 697 exhibiting companies, 16 official exhibition booths, and over 5,000 participants from 60 countries as of the opening day.

The “China Pavilion” is sponsored by Shanghai Media Group, and organized by Wings Media under the guidance from the State Council Information Office and the National Radio and Television Administration. Yeh Chien Ee, President of RX Global Asia-Pacific, expressed hopes of establishing connections with more Chinese audiovisual institutions and media platforms to bring diverse and captivating Chinese stories to Asian audiences.

As China’s most influential international film and television festival, STVF has been a beacon for Chinese television professionals since its inception in 1986, embodying the aspirations and honor of the industry, while also capturing the life and emotions of countless ordinary people, accompanying everyone’s warm memories.

In 2025, this pioneering international television festival in China will celebrate its 30th edition. At this milestone, STVF will continue to uphold and pass down its legacy. At the entrance of the “China Pavilion”, a large screen showcased a series of blessing videos sent by various film and television stars and industry “big names” for STVF and Magnolia Awards. This was accompanied by a loop of nearly thirty of the latest, most popular, and internationally collaborative audiovisual works from the participating companies. The heartfelt message conveyed was: “May Chinese television professionals continue to innovate and break new ground in content in the coming year, creating compelling works that are both profound and warm. Blessings to the Magnolia Awards! Blessings to STVF! Blessings to our great era!”

STVF in its 30th edition will continue to uphold and pass down its legacy with an innovative spirit. Reflecting on over thirty years of promoting the development and prosperity of China’s television industry while looking ahead to embrace new cultural missions, it will advocate for the “new mainstream”, adopt “new technologies”, and serve the “new industry”, to drive the flourishing of cultural and artistic efforts.

Next year, Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), also organized by Shanghai International Film & TV Festivals, Co., Ltd., will form a synergy with STVF by merging SIFF Market with STVF Market into the “International Film & TV Market”. The two festivals, run one after another and connected through various market activities and diverse formats, will create a grand celebration for the film and television industry with a richer resource pool and greater audience engagement.

During this event, STVF engaged in discussions and meetings with various film and television entities, including Lionsgate, RX France, Turkey’s TRT, Japan’s BEAJ, Thailand’s MONO NEXT, UK’s All3Media, and Singapore’s WL Entertainment. Many industry representatives expressed significant interest in the brand new International Film and TV Market, set to launch in 2025, highlighting that this industry-driven transformation facilitates “efficient connections” within the sector.

The 29th STVF is hosted by the National Radio and Television Administration, China Media Group, and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and organized by Shanghai Municipal Administration of Radio and Television and Shanghai Media Group, with co-organization by the Administration Committee of Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, and special support from Shanghai Lingang Special Area Investment Holding (Group) Co., Ltd.
