The first and second episodes of foreign drama "Star Trek: Picard III" were an unparalleled visual feast for audiences at the Magnolia Showcase of the 29th Shanghai Television Festival on Friday, June 28.
Directed by Douglas Aarniokoski, "Star Trek: Picard III" tells the story of Captain Picard who, after retirement, returns to cosmic adventure and exploration.
Despite some minor casting twists and turns, acclaimed actor Patrick Stewart continues in the role of Captain Picard, and Todd Stashwick reprises his role as Captain of the U.S.S. Titan.
Production of the series deployed many special effects in depicting a crisis-ridden but fascinating universe with high-quality production techniques.
Details about the future of the series were revealed at the Magnolia Showcase by Jonathan Greenberg, Paramount’s executive vice president of North Asia distribution.
"I've been to Shanghai a number of times since 2016, and I really love the scenery and the food here," Greenberg said. “I also have noticed that Chinese audiences are enjoying the series we bring, especially “Star Trek: Picard.”
"Sadly, however, this is the final chapter of the show," he said. "But we at Paramount will have more great things in store for you over the next few years."
The screening won unanimous praise from the audience. The spectacular fight scenes were so overwhelming for some viewers that they were reluctant to leave the theater when the screening ended.
Greenberg announced that Paramount will bring heavyweight movies "Gladiator 2" and "Mission Impossible 8" to China next year.
