Lee Mason Commissioning Executive  UK

Lee Mason is a Drama Commissioning Executive at UK PSB Channel 4, overseeing series including The End of the F***ing World, Ackley Bridge, No Offence, Loaded and Crazyhead. As Commissioning Executive, Lee develops projects with independent producers, overseeing all creative aspects from development to green light to production to transmission. Before Channel 4, Lee worked with a number of UK production companies and broadcasters including Tiger Aspect, BBC, MTV, Endemol, Shed Media and Keshet International.

Steven Long Mitchell       Writer/Producer/Director, USA

Steven Long Mitchell is an American Emmy Awards nominated writer, producer and director. He has created three TV series, run four and has written, produced and directed over 200 hours of entertainment programming, including feature films and TV movies, mini-series and has worked on TV shows as varied as 24, NCIS, Medical Investigation, She Spies and worked alongside George Lucas on a season of Clone Wars. In 2007, he wrote an episode of 24 and won the Nomination of Writers Guild of America Award in Dramatic Series with other co-writers. He is the writer and executive producer of Tin Man, a six-hour mini-series nominated Outstanding Miniseries of the Primetime Emmy Awards. This mini-series is the highest rated production in the history of the Syfy Channel – both in US domestic release and worldwide. He is also the Co-Creator, Executive Producer and Show Runner of the NBC hit classic TV series The Pretender.

Nick Fraser     British documentary producer

Nick Fraser is the founder and editor of Docsville, an international, subscription-based online documentary platform. He was formally the editor of Storyville, the BBC’s successful and long-running series of international documentaries. Awards won by his programmes include an Oscar, Sundance prizes, Peabody awards, IDFA trophies and Griersons. Nick has written five non-fiction books, including The Voice of Modern Hatred: Encounters with the European Far Right, and is a contributing editor of Harper’s magazine, New York. His newest book, Say What Happened, will be published this year by Faber & Faber. Nick was the series editor of the global documentary project Why Democracy? and executive producer of Why Poverty? He is the Honorary President of Sheffield Doc/Fest. In 2017 Nick was awarded the BAFTA Special Award for his contribution to documentary film.

Tetsuaki Matsue      Japanese Documentary Director

Born in 1977 in Tokyo,Tetsuaki won a special mention in the 1999 Yamagata international Documentary Film Festival’s New Asian Currents section for documental debut ANNYONG-KIMCHI. Subsequently made several challenging works such as LIVE TAPE(2009,Tokyo International Film Festival’s Japanese Eyes section Best Picture),FLASHBACK MEMORIES(2012,Tokyo International Film Festival’s Competition Audience Award)and TAKAYUKI YAMADA’S FESTIVAL DE CANNES(2016, Galaxy Award Encouragement Prize). Yamada Takayuki 3D  was in competition at the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival.It opened the 14th Cinemanila International Film Festival and also the 1st Helsinki Cine Aasia.It was also shown at the 13th Japanese Film Festival Nippon Connection.Screen Daily said the film was "more art installation than formal feature documentary". 


Peng Hui      Chinese Documentary Director

Peng Hui is an acclaimed Chinese documentary director. His representative works include "Kongshan", "Balance", and "Crate Cinema". More than 40 documentaries directed by him won over 100 national and international awards. "Balance" won the first prize, best director award, best cinematography award and best production award of "Golden Panda Prize" Environmental Protection Television Program Competition of Sichuan Television Festival, and "the Best Long Documentary" award in the 19th China Golden Eagle TV Art Festival. "Empty Mountain" won jury prize of the 12th Hungary International Visual Arts Film Festival, "China Rainbow Award" issued by State Administration of Press, Publications, Radio, Film and Television of The People's Republic of China, the first prize of China's Television Doucumentary Academy Award and etc.

Kay Benbow (UK)        Producer, Independent Consultant

Kay Benbow has over 25 years of experience in children’s programming, primarily at the BBC, where she previously ran CBeebies In-House Production and Acquisitions, and also in the independent sector. 

As Controller, CBeebies, Kay commissioned all content across all platforms - TV, Online, Mobile, Apps and Radio, for the BBC's service dedicated to the under sixes.  Over 2 million children watch CBeebies each week, and requests for CBeebies titles on the iPlayer and iPlayer Kids continue to increase.

Under Kay's leadership, CBeebies evolved into a multi-genre, multi-platform offering and remains the UK's most popular channel for the pre-school audience. This success was recognised by BAFTA with CBeebies named Childrens Channel of the Year four times since 2011.

Kay’s commissions during her tenure include Apple Tree House, Pablo, Our Family, Do You Know?, Clangers, Go Jetters, CBeebies Stargazing, the CBeebies Prom, A Midsummer Night's Dream and the three CBeebies Apps – Playtime, Playtime Island and Storytime. Kay remains passionate about providing the very best content for the youngest audience.

MA Hua (China)      Animation Scriptwriter

Ma Hua is an associate professor of Beijing Film Academy, a first level animated playwright, a PhD in filmology, as well as one of the top talent young people of the “Ten Thousand Talent Program” of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He held the post as a festival jury member of the fifteenth Huabiao Film Award and the twenty-ninth Golden Rooster Award. He is the screenwriter of several films and animated films, such as Cribug, the Ladybug, the Secret World Adventures IV, the Floating Planet, Million Dollar Crocodile, Running Freely etc.; of several animated TV programs, such as Monkey King, Olympic Tour of Fuwa, Biscuit Sheriff etc.; and of many projects of other types, such as the Pirates of the Caribbean: the Treasure Bay, a Disney interactive live stage show. He has been working as a literary consultant, an originality supporter and a script doctor for many years.


Hasnul Hadi Samsudin (Malaysia)       VP, Creative Content & Technologies of MDEC

Hasnul Hadi Samsudin is currently the Vice President of the Creative Content & Technologies  of the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Sdn Bhd. He has played an integral role in developing the Malaysian Creative Digital Content Industry in the past few years through his capacity in various roles from within government and private sector.

He has acted as the Head of the MSC Malaysia Animation and Creative Content Center (MAC3). There, he has built initiatives from the ground up to accelerate the growth of the industry.

On of his recent postings was in Rhythm & Hues Malaysia, the Oscar-winning Visual Effects studio, as a Senior Manager. His role was to grow R&H locally and regionally to accelerate the local and regional VFX industry to world-class standards. This has led to many roles within creative media industry from associations like POSTAM and CCIG to being an advisor to academia within colleges and universities. Just before rejoining MDEC, he had worked with Sony Computer Entertainment to create opportunities for SCE in the region. An avid gamer and lover of animation and films – he now lives his passion in supporting the development of the creative digital content industry.
